My Natural Cold Remedy
It is that time of year when cold and flu season makes its ugly appearance. And I am not sure about you but I would rather try of course the natural solution vs. the over-the-counter solution any day of the week.
Here is my go to recipe:
- 4 lemons
- 2 oranges
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 large chunks ginger root
- 4 dashes of Cayenne pepper
- 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup filters water (or so see what you need)
- 2 Tablespoon of Raw honey
- 1 Tablespoon of Turmeric ( I do use the spice kind because I have trouble finding actual Turmeric in store - but the real thing is always better! I would use about half of what I used for the ginger)
Instructions:
Peel the lemons and oranges and cut into big chunks. Peel the garlic and ginger root (bet you can on this one). Then toss everything in a blender and blend. It becomes chunky but liquid. Pour into a container and store in the fridge for a few hours so all the flavors can blend. Then take it out and strain through a cheesecloth, squeezing out all the liquid. And if you are like me you don't have a cheesecloth - so I just use a thing old dish towels. And since it is now stained yellow, I just use it for this. Then dispose of the solid stuff! If anyone has a great solution on what to do with this I am all ears.
Once you have the liquid you can store it in the fridge for up to a week. Or you can put it into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Then you have frozen cubes to store in a tight container in the freezer and pull them out whenever you need some extra goodness. You can melt into warm water or just thaw and drink. We usually take 1 cube a day if you are feeling like you need something or if you are around others that are sick. If we are sick we take it up to 3 times a day.
Will you try it? or do you have something you use? If you do shoot me an email with natural cold remedy as the subject line - email info@someessentials.com.
Have a blessed day!
