Natural Deodorants

Stephanie Vasquez

I have seen quite a bit recently on natural deodorants.  PiperWai did an amazing job on shark tank and received funding to help take the natural deodorant market by storm. I have seen comments and reviews of all sorts and I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things about natural deodorants.  Natural deodorants are not harsh chemicals and although natural is amazing, it isn't a 100% perfect (please don't hate me for saying that!).

1) Smell: There is a natural detox period you go through when you switch from regular (not natural) deodorants to a natural one.  It is different for everyone.  Some individuals find that after a few days they are great with a natural deodorant and can just apply once a day, while others find that they always have to reapply every few hours.  Basically, natural deodorant is a choice.  If you choose to commit you may have to just get used to how your body reacts.  If you decide it isn't for you, then that is fine as well.

2) Sweating:  Natural deodorants (at least I know for sure mine isn't) usually aren't made to stop the sweating process.  Sweating is natural and your body needs to do it to stay healthy, so most natural deodorants will not solve this issue.  And if you are switching from an anti-antiperspirant deodorant (which is designed to stop the sweating process) you will most likely notice that now you are starting to sweat.  Again, its a choice.

Hopefully this helps answers a few questions about natural deodorants.

Have a blessed and amazing day!

Charcoal Deodorant versus Clay Deodorant

Stephanie Vasquez

Charcoal is widely used in the health and beauty field because it attracts orders and absorbs them or actually it doesn't. It does a similar concept as absorbing yet it actually adsorbs because Charcoal causes a chemical reaction. But it still basically gets rid of the bad stuff!

Clay helps draw out toxins from the body by binding to them but allows the cells breathing room for more oxygen. Clay helps control the amount of oil your body produces as well.

So maybe it should be a versus, maybe it should be a combo! Hmmm a deodorant that combines the two? I may have to try that out....

Kokum Butter - what is that?

Stephanie Vasquez
If you are asking yourself what is Kokum butter, I don't blame you.  When I was looking for ingredients to make a great lotion for really chapped skin, I came across Kokum butter.  It absorbs into the skin quicker with no greasy feel, but the best thing it is supposed to deliver is reducing fine lines and wrinkles and helps regenerate skin cells.  When I was creating a lotion for dry chapped hands and feet, I decided I would also try it on my face.  Kokum butter does not clog pores and so far I love the feel of my skin after using it.  I am not sure I have any less wrinkles yet but it has only been a few weeks.  Here hoping...Try it now.... http://www.someessentials.com/products/lotion

That shea butter again....

Stephanie Vasquez
Shea butter keeps amazing me every time I do more research.  Did you know that it provides some coverage from the sun?  Yep! apparently it acts like a natural SPF.  Now if you know me, you know I burn at the drop of a hat and I don't tan.  So, I would not rely on just shea butter to protect my skin but since I have been using the jar lotion with Kokum butter and Shea butter on my skin under my SPF I feel like I am extra protected.  Could be my imagination, but hey it can't hurt now can it?

At last - new products!

Stephanie Vasquez
I am super excited to have added two new products - a deodorant and a new lotion stored in a jar.  The deodorant does not contain baking soda or aluminum but utilizes clay to make it a great alternative.  The other item is a great new lotion that makes your skin feeling extra soft and absorbs quickly.  I have even been using it on my face with great results.  Check them out, they may be your new go to items!
